Lew Posted November 13 Posted November 13 We're pleased to announce the release of Island version 2.3. This is a significant update and will require a full reboot, so your Island will be off line for approximately 40 seconds after the new code is installed. Firmware changes: - there are now four levels of Internet connection priority rather than two. In the CLI, "ip backup" is replaced with "ip priority". - additional multi-WAN selection algorithms have been added, and accessed in the CLI via "ip load-sharing". - when a VPN "device" comes on line, its hostname will be set to the VPN's name, making identification in the app easier. - in a multi-WAN environment, an Internet interface that is up and in contact with the gateway router, but unable to reach the Internet will now switch existing connections. - when IPv6 NAT is employed (usually due to multiple IPv6 Internet connections), a ULA is always assigned on the LAN rather than a PD. - added port-forward port ranges. - when a VPN client configuration is generated and the system has no DDNS name configured, "fill-this-in" is now replaced by the public IP address. - added additional simplified automatic interface modes ("lan", "lan-no-dhcp", "wan", and "static-wan"). - increased the maximum number of port-forwards from 64 to 1024. - in the CLI, "show vpn" now accepts an optional index number, interface name, or MAC address to display a single VPN. - access to Island is now allowed by a device that is paused. This ensures that the app can always access the Island. - disabling IPv6 support now removes the IPv6 address from the internal application stack. - if IPv6 Router Solicitation times out on an automatic or WAN port, the DHCPv6 client will be enabled, which is non-standard but necessary on some ISPs such as Google Fiber. - in "lan" mode, with IPv6 available from the Internet provider, an IPv6 address is always generated for the LAN interface if necessary. - decreased lost-Internet detection time from 15-30 seconds to 5-20 seconds. - Internet detection is now handled automatically in manual mode. The configuration options still exist in the app and CLI, but are non-functional and will be removed in a subsequent release. - decreased LED brightness by 50%, in order to improve blue LED life. App changes: - Added Island Pro installation steps. - Added timed suspension of an active scheduled event, i.e. suspending and then automatically restoring an event following the suspension period. - automatic refresh of scheduled event list page. - changed the scheduled event toggle to support all of the event suspension types (timed, skip one occurrence, suspend all occurrences), and to support restore for all of the suspension types. - removed the suspend/restore toggle from completed events. - fixed adding a schedule to properly insert a new event in scheduled start time order. - added 'and videos' to Safe Search explanation text. - added support for the Island Pro interfaces. - added maximum interface speed to interface view page. - added additional automatic configuration modes (LAN, WAN, LAN w/o DHCP, WAN w/ static IP assignment) to network interfaces. - added additional network WAN interface priorities (from 2 to 4) to WAN network view and edit pages. - added authorized networks control to LAN interface network view page. - added port ranges to network port forwarding view and edit page. - added field validation and help text to port forwarding edit page. - changed device keyboard type to support IPv6 address entry on port forwarding page. - fixed display overflow of average network and interface speed text when using large fonts. - added Island model name and number. - added notice when disabling remote access. - added CPU count and speed (Geek mode). - added auto cleanup for completed scheduled events. - changed description of an inactive interface from 'Not used' to 'Inactive'. - changed interface view to be backward-compatible with old firmware, i.e., so a new app will work with old firmware.
